The inter-ministry coordination of approaches, programs, policies and action plans between and across several ministries or departments of government is crucial to their success. Co-ordination and co-operation among ministries and numerous policy actors. The coherence and alignment in policy making, program development, implementation, monitoring and sustaining needs to be actively coordinated. There are a variety of structures, mechanisms and strategies to achieve and sustain such inter-ministry coordination. These structures and mechanisms can include whole of government action plans, inter-ministry mechanisms, agencies/structures, jointly funded consortia, coherent and coordinated inter-ministry agreements, coordinated data collection and assessment, coordinated research & knowledge development and more.
