Role and Benefits for University Classes and Staff Development/Knowledge Exchange OfficersThis is a featured page

This page describes the role that participating university classes/faculties and staff development will play in this knowledge exchange program as well as the benefits that they will receive from their participation.

Benefits for Universities and other Courses Participating in this Program

This web-based knowledge exchange program is offered as a teaching tool as well as a international venue for publishing the findings and works of university students and others following continuing education programs/courses in school health promotion, safety, education and social development. It is anticipated that faculties of health science, public health, education, social work, psychology, physical education and criminology will participate in this program as members with an annual membership fee.

By joining this knowledge exchange program, a university professor or course leader can offer his/her students the opportunity to:
  • prepare and publish on-line papers as well as post their respective papers, assignments and theses
  • to present their findings and work in webinars offered and publicized around the world
  • make contacts with graduate students and their mentors in universities and courses in other countries
  • to create projects that will be used by prospective and current employers
All students in a participating university class or staff development course will be eligible to participate once their professor or faculty joins the program.

In addition, all members of the participating class or course will receive an annual subscription to the ISHN School Health Insider Blog that tracks over 50 research journals, 40 different media outlets and collects documents, bookmarks and presentations from networking sites. This IHSN knowledge/information is valued at $60.00 per annum and will serve as a great source of ideas for students and professors for student assignments and projects. As well, students from participating university and other courses will be able to attend up to five ISHN webinars (valued at $25.00 per webinar) as a result of their class, course or faculty joining this program.

The professor or course leader will also become part of a team of mentors-editors that are working on the topics being developed in this knowledge exchange program. Presentations of their own work in webinars and in the summaries published on this web site is encouraged and welcome. (All rights to publish their work in journals and on other web sites is retained)

As well, ISHN will facilitate exchanges (web meetings, private wiki, email) among faculty members about curricula and course content for university and other courses.

ISHN staff will be a resource for students from participating university classes or courses in selecting topics and starting their inquiries into various topics.

Role of the Participating University Professor or Course Leader

The annual membership fee for university classes, courses or faculties participating in this knowledge exchange program will be $300.00 (CAD) per annum per class/course or $500.00 per annum (CAD) for faculties with more than one class.

The university professor is expected to mentor the work of their students as they publish summaries and make webinar presentations as part of the program. Assuming a global leadership role on a topic relevant to their own expertise and interest would be highly welcome.
