Role and Benefits for Participating SponsorsThis is a featured page

This page describes the role that participating sponsors (such as government departments/ministries, research and knowledge agencies and large local agencies/authorities) will play in this knowledge exchange program as well as the benefits that they will receive from their participation.

Benefits to Sponsors

This ISHN knowledge exchange program invites sponsors to support (through funding and in-kind contributions) the development of a series of summaries (glossary term, encyclopedia entry, handbook section, webinar and a bibliography or research/resources) on topics that are of current interest to them. By contributing to the development of a topic within this program, a sponsor can demonstrate global leadership on that topic. But, more importantly, sponsors are able to benefit from a team of experts, officials and experienced practitioners that come from around the world to share their knowledge with the sponsor as they address an issue of direct and immediate relevance to them.

As well, as participating sponsors in this knowledge exchange program, representatives of sponsors will join their colleagues in web meetings that guide the development of this program and to benefit from other topics developed and published through this program. Participating sponsors have the right to download the documents from this web site and to adapt them for their own purposes such as briefing notes, research summaries, incorporating the advice into better practice documents and other similar uses.

Role of Sponsors

The sponsoring organization will be the lead on the topic (s) of their choosing. The sponsors retain the right to publish and use the summaries created through this program as they see fit. We expect that sponsors would choose to publish the documents that they develop on their own web sites.

The estimated cost of each series of documents is $10,000.00 (CAD) to cover these costs:
  • preparation of the bibliography ($2.5K),
  • the writing of the 15-20 page handbook section ($2.5K),
  • the organization of one or two webinars ($2.5K),
  • and the formation/facilitation of a research/writing team, editing of the final drafts, checking for copyright, placement on the web etc ($2.5K).
Sponsors are able to cover some of these costs in-kind, or to hire their own experts if they wish. However, a minimum financial contribution of $2,500.00 is required to develop each topic through this program for the formation/facilitation of the team, editing of the final drafts and checking for copyright. ISHN will work with the sponsor to identify relevant experts from around the world and work with the sponsor to meet their local needs.

Each sponsor will be able to post a “badge” designating their web site as a member of the global knowledge exchange program and to post the products that they support on their web site. The “badge” will use flash and similar technology so that it contains the latest news about knowledge products developed in this program around the world.
